Studying in Germany
Almost 3 million students study at the more than 500
universities and universities of applied sciences and around 17% of them come
from abroad. In addition to traditional disciplines such as engineering, law,
medicine and economics, more and more new, modern and interlinking subjects
such as digital business, Industry 4.0 or cross-media management are offered.
The Bachelor's and Master's degrees acquired are internationally recognized and
highly valued. You can pursue an academic career up to a PhD at traditional
universities, while universities of applied sciences offer practical courses
that make your transition into professional life easier. In addition, there are
numerous private universities with excellent networks in the economy. In an
international comparison, the fees for the students are usually extremely low.
However, prospective students from some countries must
complete a preparatory college or foundation course (Studienkolleg) before
starting their studies to ensure that they have the same prior knowledge as a
German high school graduate. (On to the topic Studienkolleg...)
